Someone recently used a phrase with me that I haven't been able to stop thinking about: the long game.

So much of responsibility happens in the immediate:

The email that needs an answer.

The person who needs you.

The financial decision.

The conflict.

The deadline.

The thing that simply cannot wait.

And yet a meaningful life can't be built entirely around what's urgent today. At some point we must lift our eyes.

Who am I becoming?

What relationships am I building?

What am I teaching the people watching me?

What am I saying yes to simply because I can?

And perhaps most importantly: Am I spending my life on what I believe matters?

That's a very different self-leadership question from, "How do I get everything done?" This is a question of discernment.

Where might the long game be asking something different of you than today's urgency?

Around the Table

One woman used the phrase "the long game" when I asked what kind of conversation she wished she could have with other women.

That kind of inquiry is helping me see that this community isn't primarily about accumulating more information, although there will be some of that…

I'm thinking about a table where women can occasionally lift their eyes from everything immediately demanding their attention and ask bigger questions about how they're living, leading, believing and becoming.

While I'm still shaping what that means, I know I want to protect space for the questions we rarely have enough time - or the right company - to ask.

Until next time,

Gin
