Gin,
Before I became a somatic practitioner, my roots were in Ayurveda - the ancient science of life. Ayurveda taught me that imbalance begins as disconnection: from our rhythms, our breath, our senses.
Somatic work carries that same truth in a new form. Where Ayurveda looks to root cause of disease as imbalance and ama (toxins), somatic practice speaks to nervous system regulation and embodied awareness. Both are pathways to digesting difficult emotional or physical experiences, honoring the intelligence of the body and the healing power of presence.
In my work today, these two languages merge. Ayurveda gives depth and rhythm; somatic work brings modern tools for resilience and integration. Together, they help us return to balance - not by fixing what’s broken, but by remembering what’s whole.
Reflection:
Notice one area where you may be living out of rhythm - meals, rest, or movement. What small shift would bring you back into alignment? Hit reply and share it with me! This is a great season to develop the nourishing daily practices that will carry you through winter.
