For much of my professional life, I've been thoughtful—maybe even cautious—about how I talk about my Christian faith.

Not because it wasn't important to me.

It was, is, and always will be.

But I work with people from many backgrounds, and it matters to me that everyone who enters my space feels welcome.

Somewhere along the way, though, I've had to wrestle with a different question:

Can I make my faith invisible without also hiding part of what shapes the way I understand people, leadership and a meaningful life?

The more I've considered it, the more my answer has become no.

My faith informs what I believe about human dignity.

It shapes how I think about stewardship.

It influences how I understand ambition, service, relationships, rest, responsibility and purpose.

It affects how I make difficult decisions.

And increasingly, I don't want integration to mean making that part of myself professionally invisible.

I want it to mean becoming more whole.

That doesn't mean every space I create needs to be explicitly Christian, but this next one will be.

Because I've discovered there are women who want somewhere they don't have to separate those parts of themselves either.

Maybe you've wrestled with this too.

Where have you learned to compartmentalize something important about who you are in order to succeed?

Around the Table

This may be the most personal part of creating this community for me.

I've spent the past several weeks thinking about the women, the conversations, the questions and the culture I want to cultivate.

But I've also been paying attention to what creating it is asking of me.

And one answer is becoming clear:

Come forward.

Be clearer about what I believe.

Trust that the right women will recognize themselves in it.

So that's what I'm doing.

Next week, I'll tell you more about the table I've been preparing.

In faith,

Gin

P.S. Around the Table is beginning to take shape. If you’d like to learn more about the experience and see whether this might be your table, you can find all the details here.
